“Waiting for this for years”

San Diego bishop erects Latin Mass parish, anyone in diocese may join

After a 23-year-wait, the Latin Mass community of San Diego now has its own parish.

On Oct. 7, the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, San Diego Bishop Robert Brom officially erected St. Anne Church at 621 Sicard St. as a “personal parish” for Catholics in the diocese who prefer the extraordinary form of the Mass in Latin. A “personal parish” has no geographical boundaries, which means any Catholic living in the diocese may join.

Bishop Brom turned over the parish to the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP), a society of apostolic life approved in 1988 by Pope John Paul II specifically dedicated to continued use of the extraordinary form of the Roman Rite – also known as the Latin or Tridentine Mass.

“They’ve been waiting for this for years and years and years,” said Fr. Carl Gismondi, the new FSSP pastor at St. Anne. Before Bishop Brom elevated the Latin Mass community to parish status, it had been meeting since 1985 at the chapel of Holy Cross Cemetery as the only episcopally-authorized Tridentine Latin Mass congregation in San Diego.

The arrival of the Latin Mass parish to St. Anne brings new life to the parish, which had been merged with nearby Our Lady of Guadalupe parish and served only as a mission church until finally being closed altogether.

Fr. Gismondi, who resides in the parish’s four-bedroom rectory, says the old church “needs work.” For example, he said, a marble altar from 1942 was moved away from the wall of the sanctuary in the 1970s, and needs to be moved back to its original location. And there are a variety of other problems common to an older structure, “like termites,” he said.

During the six weeks he was been pastor at St. Anne, the 225-person capacity sanctuary has been close to full during Sunday Masses, said Fr. Gismondi. He estimated that between 300-400 people attend Sunday Mass there.

Fr. Gismondi said he learned of his new assignment in July, when his superior at FSSP headquarters in Elmhurst, Pennsylvania, summoned him and asked, “How does San Diego sound?” Fr. Gismondi said he played no part in the negotiations between the FSSP and the diocese to take over responsibility for St. Anne, so knows none of the details of how it came about.

Help is on the way for Fr. Gismondi, he said, first from a priest interested in joining the FSSP who has agreed to spend a month in residence at the parish, then, with the assignment of a second FSSP priest “before Christmas.”

FSSP priests operate only one other “personal parish” dedicated to the extraordinary rite in California – St. Stephen the First Martyr Church in Sacramento.

In San Diego County, a Latin Mass is offered every Sunday at 6 p.m. by Fr. Cávana Wallace at St. Margaret parish in Oceanside, and on every third Sunday at 3:30 p.m. by Fr. Rich Perozich at St. Mary parish in Escondido.

At St. Anne, daily Mass in Latin is offered Monday through Saturday at 9 a.m. A Low Mass in Latin is offered on Sundays at 7:30 a.m., and a High Mass on Sundays at 10 a.m. There is also a Low Mass at noon on Sundays with an English and Spanish homily.

To contact the parish, call (619) 239-8253.

Gloria in excelesis Deo! I used to attend the Extraordinary form of the Mass when I lived in San Diego area when it was at Holy Cross Chapel this is more than an answer to prayers its a miracle! Thank you Saint Jude and Saint Anthony! Coming Soon -- Daily Extraordinary Form in every parish in the world! Thank you Bishop Brom!

Sacramento, San Diego...Fresno Bishop Steinbock was offered an FSSP priest and the offer was not accepted. Steinbock cries about priest shortages, develops programs to have women lead parishes but turns down a priest when offered. The numbers for the traditional communities in Fresno and Bakersfield are big and growing but neither community had their own parish. Maybe one day the traditional faithful in the Fresno diocese will no longer be treated as second class Catholics. Perhaps on Bp. Steinbocks retirement in a few years Rome will send a sheperd who will care for the whole diocese and show an equal amount of respect towards everyone including traditional Catholics. If you look at what the FSSP has done when they are given parishes it is amazing, Truly the work of the Holy Spirit is there. Attendance goes up, converts fill the pews, confessionals are full, sermons on the evils of abortion and contraception, children everywhere.

Fr. Gismondi used to be at St. Stephens, too. They should have added that.

Great story. Sounded a little bit like a ballplayer getting called into the manager's office: "Fr. G, you've been traded to San Diego." And how fitting that the personal parish was erected on the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. How many Rosaries have most of us prayed for something like this to happen in our own dioceses? Trads of San Diego: we're delighted for you.

God Bless Bishop Brom. Oh how I wish that Bishop Blaire of Stockton was as wise as Bishop Brom. May God Bless Fr. Gismondi and the FSSP and help them to succeed beyone their wildest imagination.

Bishop Robert Brom's provision of a "personal parish" for Catholics who prefer the traditional Latin Mass is splendid news.

Lucky San Diego! We're in the early stages of trying to obtain permission for a traditional parish so this news has given us heart. Our archbishop (Conti of Glasgow) was openly hostile to the motu proprio, Summorum Pontificum, so he won't be cracking open the champagne when he receives our request. Anyway, great news! Remember us in the infertile soil of Scotland. Pat McKeever

I am wonderin if there is ample parkin at St. Anne? If not if there are plans to create a parkin area to park and not on the street! Also, it's the Traditional Mass and not the Latin Mass! People get confused or maybe I should say I get confused when the say Latin Mass which could pertain to the Novus Ordo mass!

How great is Thy Name, O Lord, Our God, through all the Earth! More than 40 years have I wandered in the wilderness deprived of the distinct beauty and holiness of the Latin Mass. Would that this miracle could take place in the Los Angeles Archdiocese as well - but I'm afraid that under the current Cardinal the chances of that lie somewhere between zero and nil.

If you knew the personal and professional history of that bishop, Patricia, you would not be saying "Lucky San Diego". You can read about him on-line in the ultra conservative Catholic Publication, ROMAN CATHOLIC FAITHFUL, 2003, Spring Edition. San Diego is to be pitied, not congratulated. Many are wondering why this man is still in ministry.

I like the Mass in English mostly because of my brother who never got the hang of the Latin and had no idea of what was going on at a Mass said in Latin but I wish something would be done about priests who introduce their own favorite little additions or omissions to the Mass, especially the ones who change the wording so that we never hear words that are masculine addressedf to God such as Him, Himself, His Word, etc. They change the wording to address God as the Creator or the Redeemer or whatever it is they call the Holy Spirit.

Just wanted to add that there is another Latin Mass in San Diego County. Every second Sunday at 4pm, an ordinary form Mass in Latin is celebrated at Our Lady of the Rosary in Little Italy, near downtown. The choir sings Gregorian chant and polyphony. As a side note, it can be confusing to use the term 'Latin Mass' without distinguishing which form. The ordinary form (also called novus ordo) can be celebrated in Latin.

Posted Friday, October 24, 2008 11:19 PM By Mark
There is also a Solemn High Mass at St. Margaret's in Oceanside every Sunday at 6:00pm, as well as a Low Mass every Wednesday night at 7:00 pm. The Sunday Novus Ordo masses are all celebrated with incense, traditional music including Gregorian chant, and much solemnity. I pray for the day all parishes will return to Tradition...

This, hopefully, will cause improvement in the English Masses, Betty, with better English and more reverence in observance.

When I was a kid the Mass was in Latin. I had a missal and I read the Mass in English while he was saying it in Latin. The priest had his back to us so I didn't really pay attention to him. By the time I was in high school the Mass was in English. We had folk Masses and I grew to have a great love for the Mass. I sang all the songs and knew all the responses. It was such a joy to me to take an active part in the Mass. I became an active participant not just someone sitting in the pews quietly reading a missal. A Latin Mass would be fine as long as we are taught the prayers and allowed to actively participate. I don't just want to sit quietly but need to raise my voice in worship and praise of Our Lord.

I have holy envy. We have nothing in Palm Beach County (Diocese of Palm Beach) Florida. It's not the Latin language that I prefer for the Tridentine Mass. It's the beauty of the words of worship such as the Prayer at the foot of the Altar: "I will go in unto the altar of God, the God of my gladness and joy...." Perhaps someday we'll have a good portion of the Holy Tridentine Mass in the vernacular.

Posted Saturday, October 25, 2008 10:59 AM By Seamus
I'd be interested in knowing if the numbers continue to sustain themselves. Many times, out of curiousity, people are drawn to see how it was done (long ago). Those of us that were not brought up on the Latin Mass find it missing the full, conscious, and active participation needed and expected. It would be as fulfilling as attending it in any other language than English (i.e. Spanish, Polish, German, ...) Most diocese' have at least one parish available for Latin Mass, Tridentine, hopefully done CORRECTLY. It's not just the English Mass in Latin brother, there are rules.

Posted Saturday, October 25, 2008 11:13 AM By Seamus
We need to try to unify the church and not be devisive. This is another attempt to divide. When the older parishioners that grew up in this "Mass" are no longer living, it will fade away. Be aware of the attendees, unless you educate the young this too will pass.

Yes, Seamus, I am certain there are many, "Lookie-Looz" going to see what all the fuss is about....As one might visit a museum.

Um Seamus I don't know where you have been but the vast majority that attend the TLM's at least 90% are young families not "old" fogies that you and your fellow Novus Ordonarian Latin Mass haters like to put out, nice try but it does not work anymore. Its the one's that attend th"services" with clowns, puppets, dancing girls, altar girls, polka, rock and other non-liturgical music that are dying out!

Good for you. I think it's wonderful to try and bring back the Latin Mass. You can attend any Latin Mass anywhere in the world and it's the SAME.

Our Dear Lord has provided to all the Parishioners at St. Anne a wonderful gift after so many years of praying and waiting for the Tridentine Mass (Latin Mass). Many of us in the wilderness of Las Vegas are still praying and waiting for our beloved Latin Mass to make its appearance; please pray for all of us. You are blessed indeed, a great gift from Christ. I can't wait to go! They have prayed for so many years to have this happen. You're right Janek, Seamus doesn't know what's happening at these Masses. They are full of young people and families with children. The holiness and reverence draw many, and they realize what they have been missing. May this spread to the Novus Ordo and lead to "reform of the reform".

Posted Saturday, October 25, 2008 1:50 PM By AM
Good St. Anne, ora pro nobis. May the grace and beauty of the TLM spread to all parishes.

Posted Saturday, October 25, 2008 2:14 PM By JLS
Yeah, Seamus, you're right on; just stick with your hullabaloo style of worship ... forbid everyone you can from silent prayer and worship and focus on God, because as you know, it's all in your neighbor in the pew ... don't take your eyes and attention off anything around you ... no no, you don't want to fall off the glory train. Keep your arms waving in the air, make sure God sees you among all the millions of others.

We got along better with Muslims when this Mass was prayed. I wonder why?

Posted Saturday, October 25, 2008 10:00 PM By J.C.
The proof is in the pudding! The Holy Father has allowed the Mass to flower as it should, in spite of liberal bishops and naysayers. If it were just 'old fogeys and nostalgic types', it would be in its death throes by now. Instead the Tridentine Mass continues to flourish wherever it goes, and its seminaries cannot keep pace with their applicants. Deo Gratias! This is the Roman Catholic Church. Liberals claim 'laity participation' and 'inclusiveness', but these are closed off and shut down when it comes to the Tridentine Mass. Liberals want to close us down, when all we want it our own legitimate piece of the Church, though they claim to be open and tolerant. Modernism be damned as it is trying to kill the Church and Her faithful!

Congratulations to San Diego...Here in Michigan City, IN, We have been celebrating the Extraordinry Rite of the Mass since Sept. 16, 2007 on Wednesdays at 7:00 A. M. and at 12:30 P.M. on Sundays. St. Stanislaus Parish Church is not packed, but we do have people sttending who live more than fifty miles away, from three different states...We also have a wonderful choir and its director....

This is indeed a breakthrough. However, didn't Pope Benedict XVI intend for the Extraordinary form of the Mass to be celebrated in parishes throughout the country, rather than being marginalized to one church? This gets the bishop as well as the rest of the priests off the hook, and they can send their "troublesome Latin-loving folk" off to a different church.

this is a bit of "good news" that a "personal parish" erected for the proper and reverent celebration of the "Traditional Latin mass " of pre-Vatican II liturgical observance has been erected . . .and with episcopal colaboration and approval . . . "The Church" is "One Diamond" but with many facets reflecting as a prism of many colors of the one same Light, Jesus Christ Himself! . . .every Catholic Christian SHOULD have the right and means (ability) to pray according to any prayerful and liturgical spirituality which is part of the Universal Church's presence in the world . . . for those who find their prayer and spiritual "food" in the older Traditional Latin Liturgics, this is a "Godsend" . . . and those who do not, will nevertheless benefit from the fuits of the spirit and prayers which will emanate from this new church, praying congregation, and Divine Liturgies . . . there are and can be "no losers", only winners.

Seamus, You need to do some serious Shamus research on the Mass of the Ages. You are embarrassing yourself beyond belief, without knowledge. How old are you Seamus in comparison to Church History?... "When next you hear some attack called an idle paradox, ask after the dox. Ask how long the dox has been in the world; how many have believed in the dox; how often the dox has proved itself right in practice, how often thoughtful men have returned to the dox on theory. Pursue the dox, persecute the dox. In short ask the dox whether it is orthodox." G.K. Chesterton Seamus, God Himself does not propose to judge a man until he is dead.....So why should you? Ignorant statements such as "This Mass will fade away" are only living proof of a man's very revealing quest to remain ignorant of the facts.

San Diego is so blessed i'm envious of all of you who get to attend this beautiful mass.i need a question answered. though, The reason i try not to attend St Therese in alhambra in Los Angeles is because i was told by a priest of the Latin rite that novis ordo mass and Latin mass should never be celebrated on the same alter, something about the consecration of the alter and it may make either one or the other mass invalid, i need this answered by a priest who is schooled in old Latin Theology. i now wonder if St Anne's in San diego is Latin only, because this may be the reason behind it.

Can you help us? Our Bishop and our Chaplain at the California State Prison at Lancaster, CA., will not allow us to have a Tridentine Mass here. There are 12 of us inmates who are on the list now to request this. Some priests promise to approach the bishop about this but they chicken out or something. (where are you, Father Perez?) No one ever seems to follow up on our request even when they say they are going to help us. I thought that Articles 2 and 4 in the Motue Proprio July 7, 2008 said the bishop has no power to stop a priest from offering the Tridentine Mass privately and that anyone can attend. So it must be the Chaplain here who is not trying to find a priest for us. The Bishop said the Chaplain is not against us but the Chaplain does nothing to get a priest to offer the Tridentine Mass. We know all priests are busy so we do not mind if it is only monthly in the weekdays to start with. Someone who has read this, please, please help by phoning the Chaplain at Lancaster 661-729-2000 ext 6129 Typed for Ed by his Advocate, Sister Veronica

Edward P. Contreras, Don't lose hope, God will answer your prayers. Pray to St. Rita the Saint of the Impossible to interceed and help the 12 inmates. Saint Rita prayed that her sons would never offend God with violence and He answered her prayers. St. Rita's sons were taken ill and they died before they could exact revenge on anyone. St. Rita loved God so much that she preferred losing her sons earthly lives to illness over her sons losing their eternal life with mortal sins on their souls. This is so important because many people today defend mortal sin to have their own way and comfort right up until death. Surely the powerful intercessor Saint Rita of Cascia, Italy, will listen attentively to your request for this beautiful Mass. Your timing and request is Providential in light of the mistaken notion that this beautiful Mass is fading away as previously posted above. Praise be to Almighty God! Not even a prison wall can withold the evidence of the great desire for this Mass. Edward, your request for this Mass reminds us of the good thief who defended Christ suffering on the Cross while the other robber only thought of his own comfort. The good thief upon hearing the other robber say 'If thou art the Christ save thyself and save us!" But the other thief in answer rebuked him and said, "Dost thou not even fear God, seeing that thou art under the same sentence? And we indeed justly, for we are receiving what our deeds deserved; but this man has done nothing wrong. Remember Edward how Jesus responded when the good thief said "Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom." And Jesus said to him, "Amen I say to thee, this day thou shalt be with Me in paradise."

As someone who has been one of those "wandering in the desert for 23 years", to now be able to attend our own little church, and the TLM three times on Sunday if we so choose, it is like nothing else. Father Gismondi is such a great priest. He is so forthright, always hoping and believing in the goodness of the person in front of him. He is truly the one best priest we could have hoped for. We prayed the Rosary after every Mass, just for the intention of having our own parish. A year ago no one, at all, would have believed that our Bishop would have relented (after so many refusals) to give us this gift, but God has His Own Way, and things happen in His Own Good Time. I believe in the goodness of everyone, also; its in there someplace. We just have to continue to pray for that person, and trust in God. A few years ago I wanted a TLM memorial mass for my brother, who had died 20 years previous, and appealed to this same bishop as my spiritual father, hoping in his goodness, and he gave me my mass, no questions asked. Thereafter I asked my mother to include him in her prayers, as she prays her rosary daily, sometimes more than once. I don't know, nor do I care, how this miracle happened, I can only glorify God in His Goodness that it has happened. So, anyone out there, if you are hoping and praying, keep it up. Form a little group to pray, unceasingly, and expressly for your bishops. Remember that the Rosary is never denied as Our Lady presents these prayers to Our Lord every day. Put yourselves under her protection, and pray. Nothing is impossible with God. This miracle is more than proof of that.

What an interesting string of blogs. In them I read Steinbock of Fresno, Blaire of Stockton, Conti of Glasgow, Mahoney of Los Angeles, the Diocese of Minneapolis/St Paul, the Diocese of Greensburg PA, the Diocese of Palm Beach FL, the Diocese of Las Vegas, and the Diocese of Cal State Prisons at least in Lancaster don't go along with the Bishop of Rome in supporting his Moto Propio. Does that sum it up right? Although Brom of San Diego is praised, he is criticized for refusing several requests and described in the 2003 Spring Edition of the Roman Catholic Faithful. I don't know what to really make of all this confusion. I'll bet there are many other Dioceses that refuse to allow the Tridentine Latin Mass (TLM) to be prayed although the Bishop of Rome gave priests permission without their local bishops intervention, or has that now changed?

Posted Monday, October 27, 2008 5:40 PM By Life Lady
George, look to God, and the rest is inconsequential. Leave it in His Hands. If bishops refuse, it only points to their need for prayer. We are called to a Faith like no other. Throw yourself on the Mercy of God and believe in Him. If you look to man, you will be disappointed. Look to God. He can accomplish all things. We prayed, and He listened. Prayer does heal, our hearts, and those of the bishop who at first refused. Whatever the reason, God has His Own Way. Follow that. You will not be disappointed.

Please pray for the priest who is thinking of joining the FSSP. I personally think it would be a great thing for him to move into a new chapter in Holy Orders.

DM08 Having looked up the ICKSP (Institute of Christ King Society of Priests)- it has just received pontifical agreement - it is an Ecclesia Dei society under the auspices of Cardinal Dario Hoyos and has his blessing to celebrate the TLM - as does all the rest i.e FSSP - Good Shepherd - St John Vianney- SSPV - et al - BUT - they have also to accept ALL the decrees of Vatican 11 as well as - now and again - to concelebrate the Novus Ordo Missae - as the FSSP found to their cost when Card. Hoyos lowered the boom with Article 1411. The SSPX on the other hand refuse to accept the NO as being non - Catholic and dangerous to the Faith, and want to discuss many of the decrees of Vatican 11 before even thinking of acceptance - this is why we are constantly attacked for not following the party line, and most Bishops hate us intensely and want us gone ! So much for good shepherds ! Some of us think that the MP came about as we had prayed 2.5 million Rosaries as a spiritual bouquet to Benedict XV1 for this, and now we have a perpetual Rosary for the Restoration of all things in Christ and the return of Rome to pre 1962 Roman Catholicism. Our Lady will be listening so look out for real changes shortly ! God bless

Dear Friends: Perhaps you should read the latest news from our wonderful Holy Father. Pope Benedict XVI recently stated with respect to Vatican II: "The Second Vatican Council is not losing its relevance with the passing of decades, but rather is 'particularly pertinent' for the Church in today's globalized world" said Pope Benedict XVI. So much for a return to the "good old days".

Where does this fantasy of returning to "good old days" come from? There is no point of returning to history, which is for reading, watching on TV or listening to in class. When did Jesus ever say He would return us to the good old past? Imagining matters in such terms of chronology is the trap that the millenialists fell into. The difference is that they foretell the future, and those trying to return to the past foretell the past: So, no matter which way you're looking at it, it's silly. When relegating things to the past or the future, one steps away from the eternity offered by God.

God bless the F.S.S.P., Institute of Christ the King and yes I will say it the S.S.P.X and S.S.P.V. we are all in this together for Rome to return to it's pre-Vatican 2 mindset. It is happening now just look all around the world Bishops, Cardinals, celebrating the TLM, traditional orders of nuns and priests with waiting lists to enter their orders. This cannot be said of the dying Novus Ordo seminaries and convents most are either empty or closed and that is a FACT. The Holy Father gave us the Moto Propio and yes he knows he cannot change the Mass without utter chaos, but just think about what he did and why, he put the return in motion that his succesor must continue. P.S. just a reminder this Sunday November 2 there will be a TLM at the London Oratory and Monday November 3 a TLM at Mother Angelica's Shrine in Alabama on EWTN, both at 8:00 a.m. Pacific standard time. Deo Gratias Benedictus XVI

Janek, I'm sorry to say, there is no going back. Because of Vatican II, our churches are in shambles, the Blessed Sacrament has become a second class citizen in His own House, we've lost an educational system the likes of which we will never see again, we have no priests, and most of the ones we still have are disgraced, one by one our churches are being closed, the bishops are not following any particular rule of leadership, the faithful are in chaos and fighting amongst themselves, no one trusts anyone anymore.

The Latin Mass was the primary liturgy of the Church for 1,500 years. It isn't merely historical, it is what saved souls though all these centuries. Thankfully, Pope Benedict XVI and many bishops have realized the value of this Mass of Ages and have given endorsement for its proliferation, and stated that it has never been banned or abrogated. The interior and prayerful focus and its "sense of the sacred" is without parallel. Deo Gratias!

Life Lady, Thanks for your kind words. I do have utmost faith in God and know it is of greatest importance to follow His Divine Will. JLS, Frustrate, no not regarding the modern magesterium what has happened has happened, the emotional stage has past regarding them. However how many other bishops unreported here resist the Tridentine Latin Mass? What is frustrating is the loss of the catholic faith in people as shown on this website speaking against Roman Catholic doctrine and cannon law. Those bloggers think they are doing good by defending and following the wolves in sheeps clothing, or pushing for even more liberalism. Their faith has been twisted, compromised, and is more protestant and earthly unlike that which was given to us by Our Lord Himself and His Saints. God and His Truth did not evolve. He and His Truth will always be one and unchanging. It is denial of oneself and pleasing God from the position He gave us in life that only matters. One does get a better view of the BIG picture observing it from the bleachers; as opposed to being lost on the field. Sometimes the blogs are more informative than an original article. Try it sometime on one of these articles, it'll open your eyes to a grandeur untainted view. It all falls into perspective with the book "What Has Happened to the Catholic Church?" which one can buy at Amazon. What is most frustrating is when my clean non-combative comments are censored. For what reason? They might offend a liberal? It is more important to share the truth, than let souls be misled. Tom Canning, I'm happy you were able to speak up for SSPX. God bless you all, and pray for restoration of Holy Mother the Church.

Geo. Washington, "censored"? My understanding is that posts may fail to appear for two possible reasons: 1. They are crude, or 2. overwhelming volume which the editors go through, missing some good ones and allowing some bad ones.

seamus/sonja -- if you came to st annes or had ever gone to holy cross the past 20 plus years you would discover the majority of the congregation are young families with children --geez, what are you folks afraid of? - do we really annoy you that much?

Truly one of the greatest blessings is to be able to attend the Mass of some of the greatest saints of the Catholic Church eg. St. Therese of Lisieux, St Teresa of Avila, St. John of the Cross and to offer praise and adoration in just the same way. the Traditional Mass is a Mass for all times and as Fr. Gismondi recommends, you must come at least ten times before you decide if you should embrace it.

I have been attending St. Anne's for the last month and a half and will be registering as a parishioner. Even though I regret leaving my own parish of many years, at St. Anne's I feel like I am home at last. Fr. Gismondi is wonderful and has truly inspiring homilies, not the 15 minute, vague and relativist limp wristed ones I have been hearing for the last few years. And instead of a sea of white headed old farts, St Anne's has an abundance of young families and young adults. I am amazed..where have they been? Well, there are some old fogies like me. All 3 masses on Sunday at St. Annes are PACKED. I don't think Bishop Brom really understood the desire for the TLM when he gave us this old rundown church. The last laugh is on him as our building fund for repairs and renovations continue to grow. We need those donations to restore this beautiful church. Deo Gratias!

Are they celebrating the Portuguese Mass at another location now, or did they just get rid of it altogether?
