Legislature approves Planned Parenthood bill relaxing clinic licensing standards
When California health officials refused to relax clinic licensing standards demanded by Planned Parenthood, the abortion giant turned to a close ally in the state legislature to weaken Department of Public Health oversight of Planned Parenthood operations.
Assemblyman Mark DeSaulnier, D-Concord, a featured speaker at Planned Parenthood’s “Lobby Day” on April 22, introduced a bill at the behest of Planned Parenthood to undo an interpretation of state law on clinic licensing it did not like. The bill, AB 2010, rescinds a 2007 letter from the Department of Public Health to its district offices telling administrators that “affiliate clinics” are subject to onsite inspection before they can open.
“Affiliate clinics” are clinics opened under the umbrella of an already-licensed medical facility, a common practice by Planned Parenthood across the state. Planned Parenthood said the Department of Public Health’s provisional licensing and inspection requirement delayed services to clients and cost it money because no fees or government payments could be taken in, while it still had to pay substantial overhead expenses until the process was complete.
“History demonstrates that requiring initial onsite licensing surveys for community and free clinics significantly delays the licensing process,” said a June 26 “Floor Alert” to state senators issued last week by Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California, the political arm of Planned Parenthood’s nine California branches. “These delays stemmed from insufficient state resources to meet the federal and state requirements for inspecting high priority health facilities, leaving the inspection of community clinics a low priority. The licensing delays are extremely costly to clinics because a clinic must be ready to open its doors when the licensure application is submitted – salaries, rent, utilities and other overhead expenses are paid for months while the clinic is still unable to provide the health care services the community needs.”
But state health officials suggest that Planned Parenthood’s interest may be more in avoiding inspections than in avoiding any licensing delays. “According to DPH, there is currently no backlog for clinic surveys,” says a legislative analysis of AB 2010. “DPH further indicates that all completed clinic licensing applications have been processed, and that the initial surveys for those applicants has been completed.”
Nonetheless, AB 2010 has sailed through the legislature with no opposition. The Assembly approved the measure 75-0 on April 21. On June 26, the same day Planned Parenthood issued its “Floor Alert,” the state Senate approved the bill 35-0. The bill now goes to the governor for his signature or veto.

Inspections? For a health clinic? That involves the health and safety of our citizens? Our women? Our children?
Now, why would the California Assembly want to inspect a health clinic? Safe and legal has now become "legal" as the new standard of health for our citizens.
Thank you Planned Parenthood for dragging the health standards of our state to an all-time low! Of course, without the help of your hired henchmen and henchwomen of the State Assembly in California, none of this would be possible. Nice to see you'all working for the 'good' of the people and not your own self-interests!

I get the distinct impression that we Catholics expect the world to be religious all of a sudden. The devil, the world and the flesh are in all out war with holy doctrine. The sooner we Catholics realize how dire our condition at the battlefront, maybe we'll really begin to mobilize our formidable forces. Until we stand up with courage in a massive crusade, the world will go on taking new territory and imposing new laws.

Planned Parenthood and the other baby-slaughter houses have been institutionalized here in California as sacramental places, and therefore exempt from minimal health and safety standards. This will continue until the bishops of California collectively denounce abortion from all their collective pulpits and urge all Catholics to take positive action to expose this holocaust of killing. We could free our country from the abortion scourge if all bishops worked for this goal. Until then, the baby killers will get a pass.

If we are fighting pure evil as abortion surely is, we need to pray and fast. Certain demons can be driven out only with prayer and fasting. The devil knows it. Do we?

Does anyone think that our Governor Arnold will divert one of his 20 daily rosaries for healthcare to take care of this travesty? Let us see a veto, Arnold, please!
And by the way, he spoke ignorantly today claiming that it is "a waste of time" to vote on the marriage initiative in the upcoming election as " the judges have spoken." And I thought he believed in the people's right to determine their government...

Arnold is a total FRAUD. He is led around by the wife and all her families...cronies, and culture of death friends. He was put there under the guise of a Republican conservative. It didn't take long. We are such trustworthy asses...and they know it. I am sick to death of the filthy lies everywhere. Pray your butts off if you care.

Wait, hold on; 75 to 0, 50 to 0? where were the Republicans on this vote? Are they in the tank for PP as well as the Dems? Don't the Republican leaders of the Assembly and Senate owe the pro-life voters of California an explanation? Make it a good one.

Weeorphan, very well and wisely put. Let us pray that it happens soon.
Laurette, first we would have to pray most of our Bishops into conversion to the True Catholic Faith!
God bless, yours in Their Hearts,
