Silencing the opposition

YouTube bans videos critical of Planned Parenthood

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 2 /Christian Newswire/ -- YouTube, the popular Internet-video website, blocked four videos from the pro-life student organization Live Action over the past two weeks, saying that the videos contained "inappropriate content."

YouTube gave neither advance warning nor specific reasons for why the videos were removed, and has not responded to Live Action's request to cease censorship and to unblock the videos for public viewing.

The videos include phone recordings of Planned Parenthood employees agreeing to process donations from a caller with a racist agenda (http://www.liveactionfilms.org/youtube). Earlier this year, the YouTube videos sparked national media interest, with TV, print and radio outlets reporting on the content, and some networks, like Fox News, broadcasting parts of the videos. Live Action media director David Schmidt said, "These four videos have received over 160,000 YouTube views in total, with the oldest video having been public on YouTube for over seven months. Why are these videos being removed now?"

YouTube has censored videos from pro-life organizations in the past, as recently as this year. In February, an American Life League video criticizing a Planned Parenthood TV advertisement was removed from the site due to its "inappropriate nature," though the original Planned Parenthood advertisement remained on YouTube. In July, a short film by the pro-life Population Research Institute highlighting dishonest reporting from a pro-choice filmmaker was censored. YouTube eventually responded to criticism and restored both videos.

"It is discriminatory for YouTube to selectively censor material that clearly does not contain inappropriate content," states Live Action president Lila Rose. "We will continue to apply pressure on YouTube until it restores the videos."

She points out that Live Action has compiled a compelling case of evidence on its website, LiveActionFilms.org, documenting how YouTube has selectively censored conservative groups. People can also view the banned videos on Live Action's website and learn how to help petition YouTube to restore the videos.

Just like Big Brother.

Why the surprise. Satan is alive in much of commerce and uses it for his purposes. The answer is a complete boycott of YouTube.

Sounds like "tolerant" liberalism to me

The liberal bias is everywhere. The most recent place I saw it was at snopes.com, the supposedly unbiased source that helps us figure out which forwarded e-mail content is true and which is not. Keep in mind that a lot of our technology comes from universities and liberal high tech areas like the San Francisco Bay Area. It's not just TV, magazines and newspapers. This may be obvious to many of you, but it was recent revelation to me and You Tube's bias is another more blatant example. Sad, very sad. I don't like having to be skeptical all the time!

Another reason why Planned Parenthood needs to be thoroughly audited ... not that they would resort to using government funding to pay YouTube "hush" money ... or "censor money".

Looks like YouTube is really OneViewTube!

Planned Parenthood is a monster.

Posted Wednesday, September 03, 2008 10:22 AM By Margie R
This is truly disturbing news. Planned Parenthood is not only an evil and corrupt organization which is bent on destroying the innocence of our youth, it can't stand being exposed for what it is! I am outraged. These YouTube videos have been wonderful in getting the news out when our driveby media refuses to show the truth. Can we ban YouTube videos that promote abortion? I think not.

YouTube is not bothered one bit with the inapproriate and immoral content that corrupts small living children. They are bothered by decent people who want small children to be able to live. More signs of the illogical thinking of "what is good is bad and what is bad is good".

Linda, you pegged it correctly. YouTube should be renamed to a more appropriate moniker: "ONEVIEWTUBE"

YouTube, owned by Google, is a private company that can legally remove any content from its operations that it wants to remove for any reason it wants. If it doesn't want to provide a forum in its business operations for a particular viewpoint, it doesn't have to.

Typical liberalism, first amendment applies to them as they see fit.

YouTube's parent company, Google, is owned by two far-left fascists. They make money each time you use Google as your search engine, especially if you click on one of their advertisers. Spread the word: QUIT USING GOOGLE! Instead, use Yahoo or Alta Vista.

Wonder if Catholics for Choice had any influence on Google's censorship? I just fired off a letter to its president after reading a news release it put out blasting the bishops' "anti-choice" views. Here's my letter: Lost in your deceitful spin is one utterly simple fact: the power to bind and loosen sins that Christ granted to the priests and bishops in communion with the pope. Could it be that you think the Church has changed its teachings (in contrast to deepening its understand of its teachings that have remained unchanged for 2,000 years) so you could ease your conscience and keep yourself willfully ignorant in order to do what you want to do? Woe to the brood of vipers who persist in being stumbling blocks rather than assisting the Holy Mother Church in sending abortion, homosexuality, birth control, embryonic stem-cell research, euthanasia, etc., back to hell where they came from! Oh, I suppose the Church has changed and doesn't talk like Jesus did anymore, and that we know better than to suggest that it be better to put a millstone around our necks and cast ourselves into the sea than to harm the least among us?

YouTube is pretty much all trash, all the time. People who can't read are the target audience of that site. An altermative to google is "goodsearch.com".

What is needed is an at least Christian if not Catholic version U -Tube. That would require some wealthy Catholic to sponsor such an undertaking. Any volunteers? God bless, yours in Their Hearts, Kenneth M. Fisher, Founder & Chairman Concernned Roman Catholics of America, Inc. www.crcoa.com

A piece of advice from a fellow Catholic: when you decide to take up the "whole enchilada" instead of just a part of it, you may be more believable in the world "out there"....which is, after all, what caused apostolic Christianity to flourish in the first centuries after the Crucifixion...before it gave in to Satan and the "kingdoms of this world" by selling out to the Roman emperor....Pace e bene, Jan
