“I can help others to learn from my mistakes”
Ex-NARAL member to join in Walk for Life
News release from Walk for Life West Coast
Jan. 12, 2009
SAN FRANCISCO -- A former “card-carrying member of NARAL” will be among the more than 25,000 people expected to peacefully walk along San Francisco’s waterfront on Saturday, January 24, in the 5th Annual Walk for Life West Coast.
The Walk began in 2005 when a handful of San Franciscans decided they wanted a San Francisco-style walk with an outreach to women, particularly women who have experienced abortion or who are struggling with an unwanted pregnancy.
“That’s what it is about,” said Walk co-chair Dolores Meehan, a fourth-generation San Franciscan. “My grandmother was left on a doorstep as an infant at the beginning of the 20th century. In the 21st century, we want to make having a baby a choice that all of us support. And, we want to make sure that women who have had abortions know we are there for them in sympathy and support.”
“Women deserve better than abortion,” said Feminists for Life speaker Karen Shablin. Shablin, a former member of the National Abortion Rights Action League and a former acting Medicaid agency director, had an abortion in her 20s. "I can't undo my mistakes over the years -- having an abortion, advocating abortion, but I can help others to learn from my mistakes. Every life counts."
"Abortion hurts women and families," said Frank Lee, a community leader and coordinator of Asian Americans Against Abortion. "We have allowed abortion to decimate our future for too long by killing our children before they are born. Americans, regardless of ethnic background, need to stand up and ensure that every life is cherished."
Lee and Shablin are among a stellar line-up of speakers at the Walk that includes Black Genocide founder Rev. Clenard Childress and singer Diana Nagy, whose crisis pregnancy at 15 ended in adoption.

Our Bishop just approved our local apostolate of Helpers of God's Precious Infants. Our coordinator told us yesterday at our anti-FOCA postcard organizing meeting, that when there is just one person praying outside a killing facility, an abortionist remarked that it is hell inside. (Really, they are just realizing with the help of prayer, that they are creating hell on earth.) In a way, the prayer warriors are out there in the cold, freezing, storming, baking, broiling & persecution, more for the abortionists than for anyone else - the other killing facility workers, the parents & the relatives compelling the pregnancies, or the children themselves.

God Bless you Ms. Shablin! It takes a lot of guts and courage to admit the truth. You are a trail blazer for women who are suffering because of their past abortions. You give them and us hope. Thank you for responding to grace.

Large contrast to that foul woman's magazine that encouraged women to advertise proudly that they had an abortion. I never saw any takers, surprising since I work in one of the most liberal cities in the country (NYC). Not 1 tshirt, bumpersticker, nothing. Quite telling

Someone has to get the message to President Obama. Check out the Black Geonocide website.

I agree with Doria2!
If President-elect Obama has not seen what an aboriton looks like, he should be made to view it !!!!
And everyone, please pray for his conversion.

The separation of the 'wheat from the chaff' continues. What a grace you have received Karen. Unlike your former colleagues, God forgives and forgets.
Once day, you will see your little one. What a joyous day that will be.
Good luck and welcome to "The Light Side"!!!

Doria and Elizabeth,
I hope you are both not that naive. Barack Obama knows exactly what abortion is and looks like.
Pray that America can withstand the Obamantion!

PRAISE GOD!!! Another soul converted! (Let's hope and PRAY that she has already repented to God for her former participation in NARAL's grave evil!) If I'm not mistaken, Dr. Bernard Nathanson was the founder (or a founder) of NARAL and now HE'S Pro-Life too! Thank God!

Right, Prezelekt Obama has no idea what abortion really is; even though the politics of it got him elected. Just get the word to him and he'll save the world. Isn't that the Kmiec strategy?

Thank you Mrs. Shablin. God Bless you for coming to your senses. You (and all like you) have credibility like no other women and I hope you'll use it.

I agree that it is necessary to pray for the conversion of Obama, and of this entire country.

If you want to hear a precious story about life in the womb go to EWTN and pull up the homliy for The Daily Mass for the date of tuesday 13/January/2009.
I've shared it with many ears and each has been deeply moved. Please do hear it and share it. Pax.

Talitha K., the homily of that date is not about life in the womb, or else I missed that part.
