Pro-Life Photos Make New York Times

First Time Ever

The following came from Monica Migliorino Miller, who leads Citizens for a Pro-Life Society.

Oct. 9th -- New York Times does FRONT PAGE story on use of graphic images in pro-life work -- and prints the images in online edition!

Please make pro-life comments on the site... see below for a few outstanding comments already posted!

***See also Oct. 9 New York Times front page article on the death of pro-life martyr James Pouillion.

****Accompanying video-slide show produced about pro-lifers with graphic images produced as well! Click here to watch!

Perhaps for the first time in the history of the pro-life movement a nationally recognized paper--or any newspaper for that matter-- has (at last!) deliberately printed photos of actual abortion victims. This is a story written by reporter Damien Cave who attended the memorial service for murdered pro-lifer, Jim Pouillon.

After the service, the reporter approached your CPLS director and asked me about the use of graphic images in pro-life work. We later did a two-hour interview and this story is the result.

The two photos featured in this on-line edition (see below) are of a baby aborted by the saline method of abortion and the other is the foot of an unborn child murdered at the Women's Advisory abortion clinic in Livonia, Michigan--retrieved from the trash by CPLS members in April 2008. The photos (of our photos) were taken by free lance photographer Stephen Mcgee.

This article is IS A COUP-- and is sure to generate much debate--but most importantly-- we need to pray that hearts will be changed. Our goal is to show and tell the truth about the injustice of abortion. I hope this story helps awaken hearts and minds.

The story is accompanied by a 2 minute video featuring Michigan pro-life activists such as Deborah Anderson.

Another article will appear in the New York Times print edition, Saturday, Oct 10th on pro-life activism -- and what motivates pro-lifers.

The photographs are graphic and detailed, showing the fingers or toes of aborted fetuses whose entire frames are no bigger than a cellphone. Since the mid-1990s, they have...read entire article.

Please make comments in the comments section of the site...this is a great opportunity to plant seeds in people reading the comments section who normally would not be exposed to the truth about abortion...take part in the discussion! Here are a few excerpts already posted:

I have to congratulate New York Times for the courage to publish this article and also allowing the pictures of those
babies (so called fetuses) to be shown. This is moral courage.
Those little souls are crying blood. We do not have any
right to kill babies for the “comfort, rights, future” of some women. The choice should be made before getting
pregnant! The end does not justify the means. It is obvious
that a baby being eliminated. Just think, that baby could be
a future teacher, lawyer, doctor, priest, father or mother. A
whole generation of that person is wipe out by such heinous
act of abortion. We should not bury out head in the sand.

I am a classic, left-clinging liberal in all ways but the abortion issue. I took a friend to have an abortion many years ago and in that clinic my views immediately changed from “pro choice” to anti-abortion. Although these photos are horrific they do speak a truth, a truth that so many pro-choice types refuse to admit. Abortion is far different than birth control, yet that is how pro choice types like to think of it.
I applaud the NY Times for being brave enough to include this piece.

You don’t have to be on the religious right to be against abortion. I’m glad to see pictures that remind us that these are human beings that we’re talking about. Since when do we get to decide when another human being should live or die? I reckon that the children of the overburdened single mother are still glad that they’re alive.

Now isn't this a matter of closing the barn door after the horse has escaped? The Pill has had its effect for more than 2 generations: divorce, cohabitation, abortion, homosexual seduction of young people who would otherwise achieve confident adult sexual identity, the rise of unheard-of STDs, in vitro fertilization, HIV/AIDS, vivisection of live aborted children, euthanasia, Frankensteinian fetal stem cell research, cloning. The enemy of souls no longer needs denial of the obvious, scientific truth about human life, now that the trap has been sprung. What worse attacks are now in progress, waiting in the wings? Only faith in Jesus Christ through the Immaculate Heart of His mother can save us.

Bravo for the NY Times!! Amazing that they would even have the interest in this story. This isn't a Democrat or Republican issue, but a moral outrage that impacts all of us. We need to be vigilant in our daily prayers.

Here is an amazing story about a very brave lady. More amazing still is that the article showed up in the NYT, a major newspaper with a tiny amount of bravery.

Finally, a paper with the guts to tell the truth! If we on the west coast held our breath for the Los Angeles Times to do this, we'd fall over. If even one baby is saved by them doing this, then God Bless them!

At the University of Bologna, Italy, in the bio-sciences department is an entire room filled with displays of fetal life. These facts of life have been known since the mid 1850's at least. How come well educated American women can't understand what is in plain sight. Recognizable human life exists in the womb.

Camille, many pro-abortionists well understand that not only are "fetuses" human beings, but that abortion is an act of murder. They know this, have said so publically, and yet they deem it necessary. "Yes, it's murder", they say, but they also say that it is necessary and should be legal.

Be careful !!! Before exonerating the New York Times from its decades of pro-abortion guilt, a few articles that supports a pro-life position does not mean it will publish a preponderance of pro life articles in the future. This may just be a way of suckering in pro lifers to bolster the papers diminishing reader base.

Thank you for showing the truth about abortion because only the truth shall set us free. When people see what abortion is really about, they know in their heart that it is the killings of our country's innocents.Mother Teresa said a country that it's mothers kill their children in the womb will never have peace. Thank you
