Reaching out to Latinos
$1 million campaign to tout Carly Fiorina to pro-life Hispanic voters
WASHINGTON, July 27 /Christian Newswire -- Today the Susan B. Anthony List launched a $100,000 voter education campaign in conjunction with a $1 million effort headed by the Latino Partnership for Conservative Principles in an effort to educate Hispanic voters about the pro-life qualifications of U.S. Senate candidate Carly Fiorina.
"Poll after poll shows that the overwhelming majority of Latino voters call themselves pro-life and that Latino voters are comprising an increasing percentage of the voting block," said Susan B. Anthony List president Marjorie Dannenfelser. "We've been waiting for Carly Fiorina since the day Barbara Boxer was elected. Carly embraces and advances the rights of women and unborn children, following in the footsteps of the earliest women in politics. This is important to all Californians and especially to the Hispanic community."
The $100,000 effort will include a bus tour to areas of high Hispanic population as well as a Google ad campaign targeting California Latino voters. Ads will target Hispanic voters concentrated in eight congressional districts with a heavy Hispanic population through a network blast using content searches and high-traffic websites to demographically target Latino web-users.
The Google ad campaign alone has the potential to reach a minimum of 3 million Hispanic voters. Ads will appear in English or Spanish based on the language of the specific website or the individual's browser language setting. The landing website will first appear in English with the option to translate the site into Spanish.
The SBA List Candidate Fund was the first pro-life group to endorse Carly Fiorina for U.S. Senate. Its $215,000 independent expenditure campaign in the days leading up to the primary highlighted her strong leadership and pro-life stance through an aggressive online advertising and e-mail campaign, targeted calls to 600,000 registered voters and direct fundraising from its membership.
"Our concentrated efforts in this latest campaign aim to help Latino voters understand that there could be no greater contrast between Carly Fiorina and Barbara Boxer, who has continually imposed her increasingly unpopular pro-abortion agenda on her Latino constituents and on all Californians," Dannenfelser said. "Paired with her consistently pro-abortion voting record, Boxer's support for the federal health care bill including taxpayer-funded abortion should tell Latino voters everything they need to know about which candidate does and does not represent their views."
Carly Fiorina will challenge 18-year incumbent Barbara Boxer in the November general election. As EMILY's List-endorsed candidate, Boxer holds a 0 percent NRLC voting record in the 111th Congress and has been one of the Senate's most aggressive champions of abortion rights.
The Susan B. Anthony List plans to spend $6 million on voter education in the midterm elections, including $3 million on key senate races. The Susan B. Anthony List is a nationwide network of over 280,000 Americans, residing in all 50 states, dedicated to mobilizing, advancing, and representing pro-life women in politics. Its connected Candidate Fund increases the percentage of pro-life women in the political process.

To call Fiorina's stance against abortion strong is bit of an exaggeration. Probably be more correct to say she is less pro-abortion than the competition.

Niles, whatever you think Carly Fiorina's abortion stance is, she was NOT afraid to speak out for life in her primary campaign. That says a lot! Coincidentally, I just heard that Barbara Boxer will be in Sacramento Saturday, July 31 and there will be an effort to protest her status as a failed senator. The "welcoming committee" will be at the L Wine Lounge at 18th and L Sts. in Sacramento at 11:00 am. Boxer is a rabid abortion promoter and she must be defeated. Carly can win. Please help.

So many people do not yet get it. The only way to get on a big ballot is to step and fetch it the way the government political party wants it ... just enough to fool the public into thinking we have a two party system. Has nobody heard that no matter how prolife the two parties (sic) have been, we still have abortion by the boxcar loads.

Niles, the following quote is taken directly from Carly Fiorina's website: "Carly Is Pro-Life. Carly believes that life begins at conception; she is pro-life. She earned an “A” rating from the National Right to Life Committee and has been backed by the Committee’s California affiliate, the California Pro-Life Council. Carly has also earned the endorsement of the Susan B. Anthony List, a national pro-life political action committee."

There's just no good reason for Catholics to re-elect Boxer. She needs to be put out to pasture.

Instead of debating what kind of pro-lifer Fiorina is, let's just say that we're left with either Fiorina or Boxer. Which one would you rather have? Luke warm on life issues or straight up pro-abortion candidate? Fiorina is the better "choice"!

Unfortunately, poll after poll shows California to be one of the strongest pro-choice states in the country. Boxer & Company are arguably more in-synch with their constituents on that issue. The point is, abortion is probably not the issue that should determine this race. I am perfectly comfortable with a candidate who takes the stand of "opposed, but" versus one who is rabidly pro-abortion. Boxer sets a pretty low bar and has many weaknesses, from her miserable record of "achievement" while in the senate to her disrespect of people in uniform defending her freedom to display her arrogance. Let's bring the battle to those hills instead.

I think the Susan B. Anthony List could find far better places to direct their money. If Carly's so pro-life, why did she say she would have voted to confirm Sonia Sotomayor? Oh, perhaps it's because Sotomayor's Hispanic. Carly wasn't even very interested in voting (an important civic responsibility) until she started running for Senate. She bombed at HP and she bombed when she was with the McCain campaign. Is there a good third-party candidate out there? SBA List has officially lost my support.

If she runs her Senate staff and pro-life endeavors the way she ran Hewlett-Packard, then a mouse could starve on the difference between her and Barbara Boxer. When she was ousted from HP, there was dancing in the cubicles among the nerds. Total Dilbert environment.

I'm not saying not to vote for Fiorina. She is the better choice over Boxer. I'm just saying don't fool yourself into thinking that Fiorina will actually do anything to fight for the life of innocent babies in their mother's womb. Fiorina will probably keep the status quo, Boxer will probably make things worse.

The problem is that it is NOT a "perfect world" in which either is a "perfect" pro-magisterium Candidate. However, in comparing the two, there is a CLEAR choice as to whom most closely reflects God's values! Fiorina is by FAR the better choice between the two! We need to stop shooting ourselves in the foot by demanding something the will never be! In politics it is ALWAYS a "lesser of two evils" analysis! That is the inherent nature of the process...Who is CLOSER to God's values! You prioritize the issues and each candidate's position on those issues and vote according to the prioritized results. No one will ever get 100%, but in this case it's about 80% positive for Fiorina and 0% for Boxer...A pretty clear answer! (In fact, it would be wonderful if we had such a clear disparity for Governor!!!)

Here we go again. Pro-lifers are self-destructive, willing to sacrifice the good for the perfect. And believe me, the perfect is not possible in this imperfect world. John Paul II specifically told us that Catholics could -- should in fact -- choose the lesser evil when choosing a candidate. Does anyone here really believe Boxer is the better choice when it comes to abortion? Get real.

Wm Hamilton: Your fallacy is in supplanting people, ie candidates, with the politics. The politics of abortion will not change with the candidates, no matter what they say. Fiorina will sound great but abortion will continue; Boxer will sound as viscious as usual and yet abortion will continue. Why would you prefer a smiling face telling you how bad abortion is as it rolls right along? Remember that the devil appears as a beautiful angel at times. All you're advocating is putting a window dressing on the politics of abortion.

The only salvation for aborted babies will be when the bishops in union instruct and insist on no one without prolife credentials be voted for. So vote your consciene. If your conscience tells you that it's better to feel good about your prolife senator in that you voted for someone who wears a prolife smile and has no effect on reducing abortion, then no doubt that will get you into Heaven.

If your real god is politics, then by all means forget about expressing any views that don't make for good politics. Otherwise, you have the option of being in union with your conscience and your God and your expression of your faith. If your faith is in politics, then vote for continuing abortion with either party; however, if you prefer to express your faith, then vote for someone who has put their faith on a plane of truth instead of vain hopes. Remember that change does not start with you but with someone else; by all means wait until everyone else votes the right way before you risk your face by voting for some nutball wingmaster who has no hope at all of winning but has always opted for what the Church teaches.

The voter also has to contend with the fact that no one gets high up in politics without buying the ticket. Today's ticket is abortion even when it is called anti-abortion. What is it about the concept "hoodwink" that is baffling?
