Student President Faces Removal after Allowing Pro-Life Display

Editor: the following story was published by LifeSiteNews on October 30.

A Christian student government president in California is facing a recall amidst anger from some administration and students after the student government permitted a pro-life demonstration during the college's annual Constitution Day celebrations.

Constitution Day at Sacramento City College, which took place this year on September 16-17, is an annual celebration of the Constitution and free speech, which features external speakers and organizations who request an invitation from the Associated Student Government.

Student government president Steve Macias, 19, and student affairs commissioner Monica Guzman now risk losing their positions in a recall vote after the they welcomed the Genocide Awareness Project. Run by the Sanctity of Human Life Network, the project draws a comparison between abortion and past genocidal atrocities through graphic images.

It's a Constitution Day celebration at which free speech is disallowed? Now that's a perfect example of what happens when political liberals are in charge of anything. Unfortunately, it's becoming more and more obvious, you can't fix stupid! If it weren't so evil, it would be funny.

Until we start filing "freedom of speech" suits demanding constitutional rights to allow such books on the shelves of any public tax supported school, the radical gay agendas including so many public school teachers will continue to suppress anyone and anything that doesn't agree with their position.

All the more reason to get behind the personhood movement sweeping the nation, including in California. Last night I had the privilege of meeting the famous pro-life activist from the Bay Area, the Rev. Walter Hoye. Hoye spoke to a gathering in Bakersfield hosted by a local couple who run the Life House pro-life ministry across the street from an abortion clinic. Hoye is one of the key figures (along with Lila Rose of UCLA) spearheading an effort to get an initiative to amend the California Constitution to name every human being from the womb to the tomb a person who has a right to live. He expects it to take a few more weeks before the state clears the initiative to begin the collecting of signatures. What the student officers have been dealing with is what the initiative can be expected to deal with, too, which is why we need to stop cutting deals with the devil to merely limit abortion and instead do as Mark Crutcher of LifeDynamics wants: "to drive a stake through the heart of this foul-smelling beast" once and for all. Those wanting to help Hoye in setting up a network of signature gatherers can check out the website he has set up by Googling "California Civil Rights Foundation."

As a community college instructor and part-time adminsitrator, I can't believe the bigotry of the SCC administration. Where's the ACLU when you need them? It is also interesting to note that hommosexual activists opposed the pro-life display. Food for thought ....

Pray that more young people such as Steve Macias and Monica Guzman stand up for Truth! They take the Constitution Day seriously. I just wish our lawmakers would take our Constitution the same.

A little guerrilla warfare is in order: Some years ago a prolife activist set up a pro-life display near the Sather Gate on the UC Berkeley campus. His sign read, "Gays for Life". Not only did the "authorities" leave him alone, many interested students came up to his table and took information.

Re the Personhood amendment, it would not stop even one abortion.

So much for promoting the freedoms of the bill of rights! It is the classic liberal hypocrisy...Tolerance is allowed ONLY if you agree with their extremist agenda!

Personhood as an Amendment to the Constitution would serve to stop almost all abortions. Why? Because then abortion would fall under the domain of laws prohibiting murder. Thus those who committed abortions would go to jail on homocide convictions.

JLS - Aside from being a political non-starter, the personhood amendment would likely result in most blue starters re-writing their penal code sections defining homicide. The only way we will drastically reduce the number of Abortions in the United States is the implementation of a well developed strategy to convince women to voluntarily not have abortions. In other words, to make the RIGHT choice. Part of this strategy needs to be a program to have supports in place to make it easier for women with unplanned pregnancies to make that right choice.. With the success of the Stupak Amendment, the ball is now in the court for the USCCB to get behind the Pregnant Woman's Support Act and similar measures with vigor!

Grisha ... your error is in your own words: that a strategy needs to be developed ... forty years and counting, Grisha, and no one has tendered a strategy, other than the bishops should uniformly make it happen. But they refuse. Prior to Roe v Wade, abortion was illegal, and there was not 1.5 million abortions happening in the US, but only a few. In Calif the law permitted abortion by 1969, as I recall. It is the ultimate reason for being of the bishops to teach and they refuse. Teaching includes excommunicating souls who wallow in abortion, contraception, and so forth ... send them all packing and put penances on them of ten years with sackcloth and ashes ... then you see abortion come to a screeching halt. But so many bishops prefer to sell religion that the effect is the promotion of abortion. Without the bishops all kicking the abortion people out for a long time, it will not stop. Before the bishops abortion and other sins were the norm ... then St Paul and St Benedict corrected the errors of paganism. The society developed into a Catholic one, but did not live happily ever after on the face of planet earth: Now we have pagan society once again, and this time it is worse than before the advent of Catholicism into Europe. Only way, Grisha, is criminalize abortion, which will happen if the bishops excommunicate the demoniacs like Pelosi and the horde of false Catholics..
