“Suitable commemorative exercises"
Californians urged to ask governor’s veto of bill requiring public schools to honor champion of homosexual agenda
News release from Campaign for Children and Families
Aug. 7, 2008
For immediate release
Campaign for Children and Families (CCF), a leading California organization protecting parents' rights and children's innocence, condemns the passage of AB 2567, which will instruct all California public schools to "conduct suitable commemorative exercises" in support of the anti-religious, sexual-anarchy agenda of the late San Francisco Supervisor Harvey Milk.
Yesterday, the California Assembly passed AB 2567 on a 43 to 26 vote, Democrats for, Republicans silently against. Earlier this week, AB 2567 passed the California State Senate on a 22-13 vote, Democrats for, Republicans against. AB 2567 now goes to Governor Schwarzenegger, whose position is unknown.
"If signed into law, AB 2567 will mean an official day commemorating homosexuality, bisexuality, and transsexuality in California government schools," said CCF President Randy Thomasson. "This will harm children as young as children as young as kindergarten. Every May 22, AB 2567 will positively portray to children homosexual experimentation, homosexual 'marriages,' sex-change operations, and anything else that's 'in the closet.' Governor Schwarzenegger should say no to this very inappropriate bill, which has nothing to do with academic excellence."
AB 2567 comes on the heels of last year's school sexual indoctrination laws. When fully implemented, SB 777 and AB 394 will teach children in California government schools to support homosexuality, bisexuality, and transsexuality via instructional materials, programs and activities, and school "safety" guidelines.
In addition, the California State School Board this year implemented SB 71, requiring public schools that provide sex education to promote unmarried sexual activity with no restraints other than mutual consent.
"AB 2567 will further motivate parents to remove their children from the immoral public school system," said Thomasson. "We're encouraging parents to visit RescueYourChild.org to learn how to save their children while they still can. With public schools becoming sexual indoctrination centers, homeschooling and church schools are no longer parental options, they're parental imperatives."
According to the state Senate floor analysis, "This bill requires the Governor to proclaim May 22 as Harvey Milk Day… The designation of a day of significance triggers statutory encouragement for public schools to observe and conduct commemorative exercises suitable to the day."
The text of AB 2567 states that "On Harvey Milk Day, exercises remembering the life of Harvey Milk and recognizing his accomplishments as well as the contributions he made to this state" should be conducted; specifically, "all public schools and educational institutions are encouraged to observe... and… conduct suitable commemorative exercises."
"This bad bill will teach impressionable schoolchildren the anti-religious, homosexual-bisexual-transsexual agenda of Harvey Milk," said Thomasson. "The Democrats are so cocky, they have no qualms about pushing sexual indoctrination upon children in an election year. For the love of God, parents and their children, we implore Governor Schwarzenegger to veto AB 2567."

California is soon going to be known throughout America as the veto State. Is art in fact imitating life in California? It's all beginning to feel and look like a retrospective of all those movie films the Governor ever made. Hopefully he will once again reprise the lead role in his feature movie "Kindergarten Cop" and help the children of the State of California especially those in Kindergarten that really need his help for real this time and veto AB 2567.

The state legislature can't balance a budget, but they can enact things like this? Those of you in California need to remember this on November 4th and kick these bums out of office.

And I would like them to pass a law proclaiming that black is white and white is black. Surely there should be no objection to me forcing my views on the public school system.
Professing themselves to be wise, they became as fools.
I am a teacher in the CA public school systems and unless and until our children can read, write, and perform at grade level or above, we have no business introducing anything but academic curriculum into their programs.
Looks like this will push more children into home schooling.

This is a very disturbing trend in our society. My child is entering into adolescence--with questions of what is appropriate and what is not appropriate. I feel it is not up to the government to force upon me what I would not expose to my child. As a Catholic Christian, I have come a long way (and still am) from the world. This bill is an entry way to a lifestyle that can be so very damaging to the soul and to hope. I will advocate for the dismissal of this bill. I do not want this agenda to be imposed upon me and my family. May God help guide us during these times to be wise, and yet loving.

Teaching children that this ABOMINATION (God's description of Homosexual behavior not mine) is commendable is contemptible! People who oppose this moral imbecility of promoting homosexuality need to hold an ongoing protest and prayer vigil on the capitol steps and at Schwartznegger's home. We need to make our voices heard by the thousands both by calls and by physical presence. This is unbelievably evil and as the Bible says in Isaiah 5:20 "Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil"

Does anyone really think that the Governer of California has
a brain of his own. Others tell him what decisions to make.
So don't expect anything good from him. His IQ should be tested, then we will have solid ground for a recall.

We can turn it around in a day.
If the 11 Million persons that claim to be Catholic in California actually exercised their faith. http://www.askacatholic.com/_WhatsNew/myfavorites2/Catholic_Population.cfm God would correct the outrages with haste as He promised.
From Psalm 81: Open your mouth wide and I will fill it. But My people did not listen to My voice, and Israel did not obey Me. So I gave them over to the stubbornness of their heart,
To walk in their own devices. Oh that My people would listen to Me, That Israel would walk in My ways! I would quickly subdue their enemies and turn My hand against their adversaries.
Turn with humility and repentance to our Father. Offer Him penances and prayers, and California will be spared.

Just called Arnold's office in Sacramento urging a VETO on AB2567. His Adm. Ass't. said the Gov. won't sign any Bills until the budget is passed, but that 'could be temporary.' So call & voice your feelings towards this undermining, idiotic legislation. Harvey Milk-a hero; like the Son of Sam!!!

The real threat is less to kids (whose parents can pull them out) as to the remaining Catholic and Christian personnel in public schools who will be called upon to abet this perversion of education in the name of abetting perversion, as well as to aspiring student-teachers who, even if they have no intention of teaching in public schools, must complete their training under public instruction. What if a gay-friendly lesson plan is required of a Catholic student teacher?
The Emperor Julian (361-364) attempted something similar by requiring aspiring teachers to take an oath to the gods of Rome for their credential. Homosexual vice is the god of this new julianism (as I may call it) i.e. an attempt to drive Christians from education and the professions by forcing them to choose between their faith and "social standing". At least Julian got his from the Persians.

Well, the man who killed Harvey Milk, Republican Catholic Dan White, certainly had the courage of your convictions.

"My name is Harvey Milk and I'm here to recruit you."
A double whammy for mammon; using our elected officials and public resources of our legislature to advertise an upcoming movie on the man while at the same time marketing perversion.

Cathi and NorCal: Dan White was a bedrock culture, working class, Irish American, Catholic kid who got caught up in the blood-sport politics of San Francisco before he was experienced or mature enough to even understand what was going on. We should pray for his soul and comfort for his family, just as we should for Harvey Milk and his.

Grisha - I think you missed the point. Dan White held a lot of the same misguided values as the commenters here. Dan White was also a murderer. The commenters here contribute to the same hatred and fear that gets people like Angie Zapata and Lawrence King killed all to frequently. Perhaps they would be happier celebrating a murderer than someone that promoted equality and fairness.

"all too frequently"; agreed, even one murder is too frequent. But comparing murders of homosexuals because of their perversion have one of the lowest frequencies of any event that happens. Those events do not compare at all with such things as war related fatalities, both military and civilian, or traffic fatalities ... in this county alone there are several murders and traffic fatalities per week and no homosexual related murders. What about those who kill themselves including by the HIV virus? What about ... well lots of categories including "acts of God" such as lightening strikes ... more people killed that way than by the Zapata/King category. And not to forget the 50 thousand victims of an earthquake in China last month. Oh, I almost forgot the 4000 unborn babies murdered daily in this nation alone, and the 4000 people who starve to death each day throughout the world. It is nice to know that the frequency of murders of homosexuals due to their perversion is only one or two per year in this nation ... a staggeringly low, almost insignificant frequency. Look at it this way: 304,000,000 population of the US, minus 3 murdered due to gayness = 303,999,997 population ... Maybe when the gay community begins to help to stop abortion and starvation and the numbers of these tragedies subside to a similar level of 1 or 2 per year in the U.S., then we all can breathe a sigh of relief and devote more time and effort to helping them achieve more security for their lives but not at the expense of the lives of others.

Apropro, on another thread on this site, the poster says he is not a homosexual but honors such a condition. This gets to the heart of the matter of exalting homosexuals to a high place in society. Homosexual condition is the result of sin, not the salvation of society ... this is the issue.

I am a Catholic, a voter AND gay. I have no agenda except to live the life that Christ taught us, which is to include everybody, take care of everybody and to love everybody. What part of that message is missing from the hate that my own Church is promoting?
|

The homosexual condition is a cross to carry. Blessed are those who carry it. "To them I will give, in my house and within my walls, a monument and a name Better than sons and daughters; an eternal, imperishable name will I give them."

" to include everybody, take care of everybody and to love everybody": This pop religion is not part of the Magisterium, and is not Catholic. Mario, your "own church" may be promoting hate, but it is not the Catholic Church.

Mario:
You are not "GAY". You are a Catholic with an extra cross to bear called "same-sex attraction." Jesus teaches you to "sin no more." I pray God grant you strength in overcoming your temptations.
|
Posted Monday, August 11, 2008 2:26 PM By Randall
"Gay" is a three letter abbreviation for a person with same-sex attraction. Saying someone is not "gay", just a person with same-sex attraction, is sophistry. If someone is attracted to the same sex, they are gay.
|
Posted Monday, August 11, 2008 5:37 PM By John L. Sillasen
More formally, "gay" refers to the political agenda, whereas "homosexual" refers to the condition known as same sex attraction.

We don't have a day commemorating General Patton, Eisenhower, Grant, Pershing, Sgt. York, Gen. Lafayette, or any other American hero. But, they want a day commemorating Homo-activists and Homo awareness day?!!? What Planet am I on?!?

Randall: If I have murderous hatred of someone but does not act out on my impulse I am a sinner but not a killer. I must confess my sin or rage but I will have the satisfaction of knowing that I have not taken a life. To says that a person IS gay is to proclaim that he is irretrievably condemned to sin and damnation. I believe that goes against Christian charity.
|
Posted Thursday, August 14, 2008 3:57 PM By Grisha
Dai Yoshida: If I comprehend the meaning of this sentence "To says that a person IS gay is to proclaim that he is irretrievably condemned to sin and damnation." correctly, I have to say you're completely wrong, at last according to the teachings of our Church. Homosexual ACTS, just like the acts of contraception, masturbation etc. are sins. The state of being attracted to ones own gender as opposed to the opposite one, is not. Did I misunderstand your meaning?
|
Posted Thursday, August 14, 2008 8:12 PM By John L. Sillasen
It is my understanding that the words homosexual and gay have different meanings ... one is a condition, and the other is a political movement.
|
Posted Monday, August 18, 2008 7:22 AM By Dai Yoshida
Grisha: I'm sorry, maybe I was not clear. A person who is is heroically carrying the cross of same-sex attraction and living the life of a faithful Catholic will not declare himself to be GAY. GAY is a badge you place upon yourself to state that you have renounced heterosexuality and being a homosexual IS irrevocably who you are. You live and support that lifestyle, political movement, etc.
